Elliott Smith- No Life
Unreleased from Figure 8.
David Bowie- Letter to Hermione. From Space Oddity (1969).
I was listening to “Everything Reminds Me of Her” by Elliott Smith the other day, and this song came to my mind immediately. The guitar part is so similar as well as the actual meaning of the song. They just fit together perfectly in my mind.
This is easily one of my top 10 Bowie songs of all time.
Elliott Smith - A Passing Feeling
There has always been something about this song that makes me happy.
Happy Birthday Elliott.

Elliott Smith- Son of Sam
The producers of the Oscars have announced that they are putting the kibosh on the long-running tradition of having the Best Song nominees perform their songs live, instead deciding to play clips of the songs in the films “to add context” during the broadcast. Which is about as dumb as it sounds.
Indignation aside, while most years the nominees include hacky treacle that you don’t want to see performed live anyway (this year included, in fact), performances like Elliott Smith’s legendary take of “Miss Misery” won’t be possible. Don’t expect this to be a full-time thing though: I expect the performances to be back whenever a musical act that gurantees ratings (Miley Cyrus, probably) is nominated. [Daily Swarm]
Cover of Big Star’s song “Thirteen” done to Elliott Smith’s version. Learned the guitar part in like 10 minutes, so there’s a few mess ups here and there.
